CHOOSING A WEDDING VEIL STYLE
Almost as iconic as the wedding dress, the wedding veil accentuates the
bride’s personal style and adds a finishing touch of elegance to
her look. While the wedding veil has its origins in religious tradition, most brides today choose to wear a veil for more personal and
aesthetic reasons. Wedding veils can vary in length, decoration, color and style. The following are some wedding veil styles and options for brides to wear their veil.
The shortest type of veil is the blusher or birdcage veil, which is usually only long enough to cover the bride’s face and can be accompanied by a headpiece or bridal hat.
Next is the mid-length veil, which generally falls at the bride’s elbow, fingertip or sometimes a little above or below. This veil sometimes has several layers and can be positioned most anywhere in the hair and is often accompanied by a headpiece.The mid-length veil is a popular choice because it’s easy to wear and there are so many ways to wear it. The veil should fall a minimum of 3" below the back neckline of your gown.
Then we have the long cathedral length veil. This veil
traditionally falls all the way to the floor–and then some! There are several ways to wear this veil, but the important thing to remember
is its length. Floor length veils look best when they are
either the same length as the train of the gown, or a minimum of 20"
beyond the hem or train of the gown. This veil will require a little more
hand-holding–literally–throughout your wedding day, but the look it can
create is impressive!
